About the NCBA

The Nevada County Bar Association is a voluntary professional association of attorneys and legal professionals, organized to serve its members and the public in Nevada County.

The Association:

  • Administers Fee Arbitration Program, at the direction of the State Bar of California, to assist clients and attorneys in resolving conflicts concerning fees for legal services.
  • Produces and sponsors the Essay Scholarship awards annually, inviting essay submissions from area high school juniors and seniors on topics of law, presenting scholarship awards at the annual Law Day dinner. Notable speakers have included Appellate justices, County judges, and prominent local attorneys.
  • Provides low-cost Mandatory Continuing Legal Education programs, and networking opportunities for members such as social events.
  • Sponsors events of interest to the public, such as “Candidates Night” for local elections, judicial candidate plebiscites, and candidates forums. NCBA has sponsored the award-winning Nevada Union Debate Team, and underwrites fundraisers to support similar programs.
